Caitlyn Martell has had a remarkable softball career at Shippensburg University.

The senior middle infielder and three-time Eastern Division First Teamer is once again adding her name to the PSAC individual hitting leaderboard. Martell is currently tied for 5th in hits (37) and doubles (8) among all PSAC hitters.

The year prior, Martell hit .398 and finished the season 4th overall in hits (82) and total bases (119). As a sophomore, Martell lit up the stat sheet. Check out her numbers:

As a freshman, Martell wasted no time getting to work. The Pennsbury High School product logged 68 hits, hit .378, and finished the season 6th overall in total bases (112) and 7th in runs (50). At season’s end, she was named PSAC East Freshman of the Year.

Impressive numbers, I know.

Over 687 collegiate at-bats, Martell has built a career .390 average with 268 hits, 171 runs, 140 RBI, and 26 home runs.

The year was 1999, and Philadelphia Textile University pitcher Jackie Belmondo McCafferty had just finished throwing a one-hitter against Wilkes University in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Fast forward 27 years, and Jackie—a Conwell-Egan alum—is now the mother of three Neshaminy High School varsity softball players.

Kendall, the eldest, is a 2027 starting first baseman. Last season, she earned SOL Second Team honors for her play. This season, Kendall (10) is off to a strong offensive start, hitting .500.

Riley (26), a 2029 starting shortstop, is hitting .333 and hit her first varsity home run two weeks ago against Conwell-Egan Catholic High School.

Avery (14), also a member of the Class of 2029, is an outfielder who has made two starts this season and has impressed early with her glove.

All three sisters play AAU softball for Rock Gold. Kendall competes for the 18U National team, while twins Riley and Avery play for the 14U National team.
